Weir Wall Project

Geography: Fort McMurray, Alberta
Industry: Oil & Gas
Materials: 60 mil Anchor Nob Sheet, Embedment Strip, Proprietary Capping Membrane
Duration: 3 Months

Project Description

Engineered Containment was approached by the General Contractor and Owner to come up with a solution to a serious problem with the installation of the Anchor Nob sheet that was installed by the GC under the direction (or lack thereof) of a Liner Contractor (not ECI).   The HDPE Anchor Nob Sheet was placed on this wall to eliminate ice-jacking but required installation to be completed with zero voids. The material was installed incorrectly and required corrective measures to meet schedules and specification requirements as voids were created during the concrete pour.

ECI, the Engineer, the GC and the Owner spent multiple hours coming up with a repair protocol to that would allow this project to perform as it was designed to.

Outcome

The Owner was completely satisfied with the work completed by ECI and the system is functioning without issue.

lessons learned

This is a great product but the installation requires technical expertise so it is important to buy it from a geosynthetics supplier who will support it with direct installation or at least an on site Technical Advisor.
